Eva Coego, BSc (OT) MSc (OT) OT Reg (Ont.)
Occupational Therapist

Eva is a brain injury specialist who has practiced occupational therapy for two decades, in three languages, and across four countries.
 

As a brain injury specialist, she provides evidence-based rehabilitation for all levels of brain injuries, from concussions to severe traumatic brain injuries (TBIs). Her expertise includes assessing and treating complex injuries in individuals affected by multiple traumas and illnesses, such as acquired brain injuries, mental health issues, chronic pain, and orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries.
 

Eva has extensive experience collaborating with individuals recovering from complex injuries, conducting functional assessments to determine their care needs and benefits eligibility under various programs. She is proficient in performing functional restoration programs, cognitive rehabilitation, pain management, home accessibility, job analyses (both physical and cognitive demands), as well as return-to-work, return-to-school, and return-to-activity programs.
 

With a background in community intervention with vulnerable populations, Eva's practice employs a biopsychosocial approach to enable participation in meaningful activities, optimize quality of life, and promote independence. She believes in an integrated approach to occupational therapy, where the focus is not only on physical rehabilitation but also on the emotional and social well-being of her clients. Eva is committed to providing personalized care that respects the unique needs and goals of each individual. She emphasizes the importance of evidence-based practices and continuous learning to ensure the highest quality of care. Eva advocates for empowering clients through education and active participation in their recovery process, fostering resilience and independence. Her philosophy is rooted in the belief that meaningful activities and community engagement are essential for optimal health and quality of life.
 

Eva holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the Complutense University in Madrid, Spain (1998), and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Ottawa (2012). She is a fully trilingual occupational therapist (English, French, Spanish) with professional experience in Spain, the UK, Malta, and Canada. She is a member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).
 

In her free time, you will find Eva exploring the wonders of Canadian wilderness with her unruly canine companion and her even more unruly humans or thinking about the next pair of barefoot shoes she will make.
